The conference participants will also be invited to gather in three plenary sessions. Two of these plenary sessions will be academic: an opening lecture and a closing roundtable with the participation of internationally acknowledged keynote speakers who endorse the scientific quality of the conference. A third plenary session will be the Assembly of Researchers that will discuss the organization of the next CIEYE conference, as well as topics related to publications and dissemination.

Pre-conference Seminar:

TitleVisual Ethnographies of Education, Migration and Childhood.

The objective of the pre-conference workshop is to present, discuss and analyse qualitative methodological proposals as video-graphic observation, visual auto/biographical narratives and other techniques, as tools for visual collaborative ethnography. + info


Opening lecture:

Title: Fight on, bright lights: On art and ethnography as persistent hope and creative altruism in an era of global despair

Keynote speaker: Dr. Sally Campbell Galman (University of Massachusetts Amherst, US)


Closing Roundtable:

Title: Critical ethnography, educational challenges and non-academic dissemination

Speakers:  Dr.  Patricia Ames (Institute for Peruvian Studies and Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú); Dr. Sofia Marques (Centre for Research and Intervention in Education, Porto University, and EERA Ethnography Network) and Christiane Timmerman  (CEMIS, University of Antwerp).
